Ta-Nehisi Coates’ first novel, “The Water Dancer,” has gotten the ultimate approval from bookworm Oprah Winfrey.
The media mogul kicked off a new book club, in partnership with Apple Books, on “CBS This Morning” and at the Apollo, where she interviewed Coates Monday.
“I heard from very reliable sources the book made her cry,” Oprah bestie Gayle King said.
At the Apollo, Winfrey read an e-mail from the late Toni Morrison: “I’ve been wondering who might fill the intellectual void that plagued me after James Baldwin died. Clearly, it’s Ta-Nehisi Coates.”
Coates was later seen at Harlem’s Blvd Bistro, while Winfrey hit up Red Rooster.
