Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime Show
One has hips that refuse to lie.
The other has a fiance who has lied to the public and Major League Baseball on numerous occasions.
Together, they'll combined to shake their bodies and take to the stage at halftime of Super Bowl LIV.
It was announced on Thursday evening that Shakira and Jennifer Lopez will team up to perform in Miami on February 2, 2020.
Shakira herself broke the exciting and sexy news on Instagram yesterday when she shared a photo of Lopez and included with it a caption that reads:
“Get ready 02.02.20."
She later added the promotional image above and wrote:
It doesn’t get any bigger than this! So excited about getting on that #SuperBowlLIV #PepsiHalftime stage!
“This is happening. 02.02.20,” Lopez then Tweeted along with a photo of Shakira.
The Super Bowl performance will be a follow-up to Lopez’s “It’s My Party” tour, which doubled as a birthday celebration this year.
She just recently told Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa that it's the gig would hold strong appeal to her if it came to fruition.
“It’s something that we’ve talked about for many years, and, you know, it would be nice. It would be nice. I can’t say I wouldn’t love it,” Lopez told the talk show hosts earlier this month.
She very likely knew at the time that she would be headlining the show, but was just unable to confirm it.
Lopez and Shakira follow in the talented footsteps of last year’s Super Bowl headliners Maroon 5, Big Boi and Travis Scott.
Previous performers include Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
The Super Bowl halftime show is hyped every year as some huge deal, only for viewers to then trash the heck out of it on social media as soon as it wraps up.
So far, at least, folks seem pretty fired up about Lopez and Shakira punching their Super Bowl tickets, as you can see below:
“We are so excited to announce that global superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will take the stage together for the very first time at the Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show,” Adam Harter, Senior Vice President of Sports, Media and Entertainment, for PepsiCo said in a statement.
He added:
"“We’ve been working closely behind-the-scenes with our longstanding partners at the NFL, and now alongside Roc Nation to bring these mega superstars together.
"It is a testament to our partnership and commitment to push the envelope of what is possible.”
Sounds great -- as long as Alex Rodriguez is kept as far away from the stage as possible.
