Marvel Overlord Kevin Feige Is Developing A STAR WARS Movie
Same employer, different franchise.

There are many, many reasons why Disney owning nearly every entertainment brand the world is a bad thing. For Disney itself, though, it's a great thing, as evidenced by a moderately surprising news item that's just surfaced. In a pretty impressive display of corporate synergy, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has shifted a portion of his attention towards fellow Disney subsidiary Lucasfilm, and is now in active development on a new Star Wars film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Feige first raised the possibility of a new Star Wars project late this summer, which resulted in that project entering development under his and Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy's watch. Little is known about the project, but in a hilariously vague bit of reporting, THR also cites a source claiming "Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play if and when he makes the movie." We've got our suspicions.
Kennedy and Feige joining forces is a pretty big deal, given that they preside over arguably the two biggest franchises in the movie industry. It's not as surprising as it would have been were Marvel and Lucasfilm not both owned by Disney, but it's still something. However, if you're one of those people hoping Kennedy would step down, you're shit outta luck: THR's source says there are no plans for such changes, her present contract still has two years on it, and Feige is already busy enough with Marvel without taking on a second mega-franchise.
So, to recap, upcoming Star Wars projects include:
- Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (feature);
- The Mandalorian (Disney+ series);
- Kenobi (Disney+ series);
- Untitled Rian Johnson project (feature trilogy);
- Untitled Benioff/Weiss project (features of unclear number);
- Untitled Rogue One prequel (Disney+ series);
- Untitled Kevin Feige project (feature);
- Enough novels and comics to wallpaper the Sistine Chapel.
What could a Kevin Feige-led Star Wars film look like, given we know exactly nothing about it? The man's a big fan of the franchise, supposedly (what American filmmaker in his age bracket isn't?), and he's definitely demonstrated he can bring projects in for a smooth landing, but he has literally never produced a single movie that is not Marvel-branded. Speculate below, but avoid the obvious speculation that it'll be a Marvel/Star Wars crossover. That'll almost definitely never happen. And if it did, it would be bad.
