Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden Will Lead Amazon's 'Citadel' and That's Unexpected

January 14, 2020

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden will be co-stars in Amazon's new original drama, Citadel. While the plot of the series has not yet been revealed, the series is executive produced by Anthony and Joe Russo. You'll remember them as the directors of Avengers: Endgame.

During the Television Critics Association's Amazon panel (via Variety), the streaming giant also announced that there will be not one, but four different versions of Citadel. There's the American version starring Chopra Jonas and Madden, of course, but also local language series being produced for Italy, Mexico, and India, which is freakin' awesome.

Madden, whom everyone remembers as Robb Stark from Game of Thrones (RIP), most recently found success with Bodyguard and also had a role in the Oscar-nominated film 1917. He'll next be seen in this year's Marvel film, The Eternals, which sounds promising.

Meanwhile, Citadel marks Chopra Jonas' return to television, though she's no stranger to acting (she's a huge Bollywood star and made her American acting debut in ABC's Quantico). Pairing her onscreen with Madden will certainly make for an interesting experience.

Still, it's hard to be excited about the show in any capacity just yet. The plot is still being kept a secret, after all, and the series being a drama doesn't exactly say much about what to really expect. Citadel was first announced back in July of 2018, with little forward movement since. However, this casting news is the biggest announcement for the show so far, which bodes well for its progress.

Citadel does not have a scheduled release date yet.
