Ariana Grande changes lyrics at Grammys 2020 after reconciling with father

Ariana Grande is saying “thank you” to her father.

The songstress, 26, changed the lyrics to her hit song “Thank U, Next” while performing at the Grammys on Sunday night.

“I’ll be thanking my dad because he is so awesome,” she belted out instead of “I’ll be thanking my dad/’cause she grew from the drama.”

The lyric change comes after she walked the red carpet with both of her parents, Joan and Edward Butera. Grande’s relationship with her father was previously rocky following her parents’ divorce.

“Falling out of touch with my dad. It’s private, but it happened last year,” Grande told Seventeen magazine in 2014. “It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself.”

The duo has since patched up their relationship as early as Christmas 2018 when they FaceTimed together. Grande then spent Thanksgiving 2019 with both of her parents.

She began the performance with “Imagine” before going to “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next.”
