Friars Club’s bar MIA until March, dining room out of commission for most of 2020

The Friars are in deep trouble.

NYC’s iconic Club doesn’t expect its famed headquarters to be fully open again until the end of the summer after major flooding.

It says that a pipe burst at its 112-year-old “Monastery” on 55th Street while it was closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Now the club has told members that even the front bar area won’t be back up and running again until the end of March, and that the dining room won’t be restored for most of the year.

On the upside, it has arranged for members to use some of the facilities at the extremely fancy Core Club across the street and it’s trying to figure out a similar arrangement with the Players Club in Gramercy Park.
