'The Witcher': Watch Henry Cavill Explain the Details of Geralt of Rivia's Sword
If you've already seen Netflix's The Witcher and thought to yourself, "hey, I'd love to see more of Henry Cavill wielding that sword," then you're in luck. Netflix has released a video with Cavill doing exactly that. Well, the video details how Geralt of Rivia's sword was made for The Witcher and all that, but it's Cavill who is offering this passionate explanation and that's all you really need to know.
In all seriousness, if you're a fan of The Witcher, then this video offers a lot of detail about the inner workings of how props are made, as well as other behind-the-scenes information. It's all rather fascinating. Geralt's sword, as Cavill describes, is made out of meteorite, which is "stronger and more durable than steel." Of course it is. How else would Geralt have been able to kill those monsters?
Cavill was very into playing Geralt, though. In one interview, he even explained how he came up with the character's unique accent. So dedicated is Cavill to ensuring that Geralt looked excellent while wielding his sword onscreen that he requested the design of the hilt be changed to better accommodate his wrist in fight scenes.
Henry Cavill seriously describes how the sword is just a regular piece of weaponry when in the hands of the ordinary, but in his hands, it's deadly and can change destiny. Sorry, I mean in Geralt's hands, of course.
