Sotheby’s combines high art and streetwear with new clothing line

January 14, 2020

Venerable Sotheby’s is getting into streetwear.

The auction house has partnered with hipster brand Highsnobiety — a blog that focuses on sneakers and skater culture — to create a line of shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies for Sotheby’s auctions of old masters’ works. The gear will include images such as Dutch painter Matthias Withoos’ still life of a forest floor. In 2018, Sotheby’s partnered with fashion designer Victoria Beckham for another art sale.

The auction house has been making moves to woo new and younger collectors to its old masters works, ArtNews reported.
