Meghan Markle was on the brink of a “meltdown” if she remained in the UK — and so Prince Harry fast-tracked the couple’s “Megxit” plans, the Sun on Sunday reported.
The American Dutchess — who grew up Los Angeles and filmed seven seasons of the cable legal drama “Suits” in Toronto — wanted desperately to spend more time with pals and family in North America, and less time cloistered in British palaces, the report said.
And so Harry moved quickly to announce the couple wished to step back from their jobs as full-time royals, the Sun reported, citing sources who know the Sussexes.
“The statement was rushed out and part of the reason for that is that Harry knew he needed to take swift action,” the source told the Sun.
“Meghan has not settled in the UK and he knows that and wants her to be happy.
“And it got worse recently, with their spell in Canada helping cement her view that the family would be better off out of the spotlight and spending more time there.
“He feared staying in the UK too long would lead Meghan to have a meltdown,” the source added. “That’s why things moved so quickly.”
