Ricky Gervais says the only joke he regrets from his infamously mean Golden Globes hosting gig is a quip about Tim Allen.

In 2011, Allen presented an award with Tom Hanks, and Gervais introduced them by saying, “The first [presenter] is an actor, producer, writer and director whose movies have grossed over $3.5 billion at the box office. The other is Tim Allen.”

Gervais told the Hollywood Reporter that the punch line could have been about anyone. “I didn’t want Tim Allen to think, ‘Oh, that was written for me,’ ” he said. “ ‘Why me?’ Well, because you were standing next to Tom Hanks.”
