Controversy surrounds Bret Michaels’ New Year’s countdown from Times Square

January 02, 2020

Bret Michaels really dropped the ball on the ball drop.

The Poison rocker performed at Matthew Gavin’s New Year’s Eve bash at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square — but his set ran over, and he was still performing while the countdown to the end of the decade was happening outside.

While Michaels was still rocking out, Page Six went out to the roof deck overlooking Times Square, only to realize that the famed Times Square ball drop was already over.

Bizarrely, Michaels did his own countdown once he’d wrapped up his song, even though the rest of the city was already several minutes into 2020.

Reps for the event insist Michaels “100 percent did the countdown to midnight from the stage,” alongside hosts Alyse Zwick and Rashad Jennings.

Tiffany had performed several songs earlier, including her big hit “I Think We’re Alone Now,” venturing out into the audience to get people to dance. She came back on stage for the countdown.
