Disgraced R&B star R. Kelly missed a recent court date due to an emergency operation, TMZ reports.

According to the site, the singer was briefly taken out of MCC Chicago custody and transported to a hospital, where he went under the knife to repair a hernia. He was then quickly transported back to his jail cell after the procedure. The “Happy People” artist wasn’t allowed any visitors during his hospital stay.

Kelly’s attorney filed documents back in September 2019 detailing several of the crooner’s medical issues, including anxiety, numbness in one of his hands — and yes, a hernia.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Kelly is currently on pain meds following the procedure.
