PR Icon Kelly Cutrone bans Jezebel writer for life

September 13, 2019

PR icon Kelly Cutrone has banned a Jezebel writer from her fashion shows after the blogger claimed that Cutrone kicked her out of a seat at a Fashion Week event.

“She is no longer welcome at anything I do,” Cutrone told Page Six, “including my funeral. I will make sure she can’t get into my own funeral.”

Writer Maria Sherman attended Hogan McLaughlin’s Chelsea Piers show — organized by Cutrone’s firm People’s Revolution — and wrote a post called “All I Got From New York Fashion Week Was a Funny Story About Kelly Cutrone,” in which she said that she walked out of the event after Cutrone demanded to see her seating assignment, and then told her, “You need to get up. GET UP,” when it turned out she was in the wrong seat.

After the piece was published Cutrone told us that Sherman had taken a front-row seat at the event — which was also attended by Saint Jhn, JaVale McGee and Dr. Ruth — even though she’d been assigned a second-row spot, which she described as “a generous seat for a Jezebel writer.”

Cutrone told us she was checking the attendees against the seating chart and noticed an unfamiliar face in the front row.

“I didn’t know who she was, but I knew she wasn’t Dr. Ruth,” she told us.

The fashion veteran told us she didn’t kick Sherman out of the event, and didn’t yell at her. And she was only irked after she read the story.

“I invited you to my house, I gave you a snack, and you put a gun to my head,” Cutrone told us, describing how Sherman’s behavior made her feel, adding that the story distracts attention from her client’s work.

The maven — who appeared as her ferocious-publicist self on MTV’s “The Hills” in the 2000s — also posted a response on Instagram, addressing Sherman by saying, “It is super sad that you are caught up in some kind of ‘Hills’ mythology from a decade ago.”

Sherman didn’t get back to us.
