The tiny Texas town where Netflix’s hit docuseries “Cheer” takes place is getting another Hollywood moment.
After star Jerry Harris attended the Oscars and Vanity Fair party, the show’s “Bill Belichick of cheerleading,” coach Monica Aldama, revealed that Will Ferrell has now set up shop in Corsicana to film a planned movie about the town’s fruitcake manufacturer, Collin Street Bakery.
“They sell more fruitcakes in the world than anyone. They’re actually filming a movie about it right now. Will Ferrell is in the movie so he’s in town filming about the bakery. Lots of stuff going on in Corsicana!” Aldama told Krista Smith on her “Present Company” podcast for Netflix.
Corsicana’s home to Aldama’s champion cheerleading squad at Navarro College.
