Harvey Weinstein has been spotted for the first time after he was ushered out of a Manhattan courtroom in handcuffs earlier this week following his landmark #MeToo convictions.
Two images, obtained by Pix 11, show the disgraced producer from behind in Bellevue Hospital, lounging on a leather chair in front of a TV mounted on the wall. His wheelchair is stationed nearby. Cell bars are visible in the background.
Wearing a white T-shirt, the 67-year-old rubbed his balding head in one frame. In a second, he appears to be gazing at a blue TV screen.
Weinstein was rushed to Bellevue with heart palpitations and high blood pressure following his Monday convictions on third-degree rape and criminal sex act in the first degree.
A source told the TV station he is being treated “like any other person” behind bars.
“He is walking with the aid of a wheelchair,” a source told PIX11. “He is holding on to its handles to go to the TV room, using it as a walker, where he spent about an hour this morning and then walked himself back.”
Weinstein used a walker throughout his criminal trial following a reported back surgery last year.
The source said Weinstein was forced to part with the infamous device when he was taken into custody.
Department of Correction Emergency Service Unit staff escorts him wherever he goes throughout the Manhattan hospital, according to PIX 11.
Weinstein, who faces 29 years in prison, reportedly has much to ponder behind bars.
“He doesn’t understand how the jury didn’t understand that he’s not guilty of these crimes,” his spokesman said Friday after visiting him at the facility. “He’s emotionally down. He’s mentally down. He’s in prison.”
