When Harry Styles walks into a Wawa, it’s not just the start of a joke.
The “Falling” singer, 27, caused delight when he popped into a Delaware location last week.
However, the former One Direction frontman didn’t stay long. He revealed during an interview at a Sirius XM and Pandora Secret Sessions performance on Friday night in Williamsburg that it was a bit of an awkward encounter.
“I was with a friend and we were going in and he was like ‘oh do you wanna go in or do you wanna wait in the car,'” Styles explained about the Wawa pit-stop. “We go in, I open the door and Wawa’s playing [One Direction song] ‘Night Changes.'”
The excited employees couldn’t contain their glee. “There were like six girls stood in the back just singing that and I was like ‘I’m gonna wait in the car.'”
Despite the somewhat uncomfortable setting, Styles gamely posed for photos, signed autographs and made his purchase.
When asked by inquiring fans at the Friday night event what his order was at the convenience store, the U.K. native seemed baffled.
“It’s a gas station,” he said — but quickly recanted after protests from Wawa-loving fans. “I did have a good sandwich,” Styles offered.
The crooner also discussed his friendship with Lizzo, teasing a potential future collaboration with the body-positive “Juice” singer and praising her for her “infectious positivity” and authenticity. He performed hits off his latest album, “Fine Line,” including “Lights Up,” “Adore You” and “Watermelon Sugar” as well as older hits “Kiwi” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”
The full interview as well as the concert will air on Sirius XM on Feb. 29.
