Kody Brown recently said on air that he wants all his Sister Wives to be miserable.
Really.
The selfish and sexist patriarch of this polygamous family truly said on the latest episode of this TLC reality show that he grows bitter any time his spouses have a good time together.
How sweet of Kody, right?
Janelle Brown, meanwhile, doesn't seem to care what her awful husband says -- because she's come up with a new way to find happiness...
... and it involves adding another spouse to her polarizing family.
No, not a fifth wife for Kody, as has actually been rumored for many months now.
But a second husband for herself!
Okay, fine, Janelle didn't really say that. She isn't actually in the market for another man.
However, the 50-year old did have an interesting and perhaps revealing interaction with a fan on Twitter this week.
“Why can’t a woman have multiple husbands and be in a plural marriage?” this social media user asked, to which Janelle replied:
“I’ve met families that are structured that way. It’s not our paradigm but consenting adults should be able to choose. As long as there is [no] abuse or fraud.”
What a novel concept, huh?!?
More than ever over the past few weeks, we've seen just how unfairly Janelle's own marriage is structured.
Kody gets to have the final -- and, some might argue, only -- say on nearly every issue, as he's been simply aghast on new Sister Wives episodes that he women won't mindlessly jump on board his polygamous palace idea.
By definition, the Brown's plural marriage means that Kody gets to have new and different experiences all the time. It means everything is catered around his wants and needs.
It's taken Janelle, Meri, Robyn and Christine a very long time to realize how one-sided this relationship is -- but it does seem as if the women are starting to fight back.
Heck, they're certainly starting to clap back.
Just consider the way Janelle has evolved on the subject of this very post...
In 2011, she explained that when it comes to brother-husbands, such a practice going against her spirituality.
“Religions have rules and beliefs, and it can even be simple as conduct in a marriage or foods that you can and can’t eat,” she said. “Every religion has rules that they think bring them closer to God. That is how it is for us.”
Meri agreed at the time, saying:
“The way that the plural marriage is for us … is one man and multiple wives. We just don’t do it the other way around. I would not ever choose to have more than one husband.
"From a religious standpoint, because I don’t believe that that’s right.”
As for Kody? You can imagine where he comes down on this issue, can't you?
Way back on Season 1, Meri asked her husband how he would feel if she gave romantic attention to another guy.
“That’s just not something I’m comfortable with imagining,” Kody replied, adding:
"The vulgarity of the idea of you with two husbands or another lover sickens me. It seems wrong to God and nature. I understand this seems somewhat hypocritical, and I don’t know how to get around it."
There's no way to get around it, dude. You are a total hypocrite.
