Beyoncé’s history of banning photos

February 26, 2020

Why Beyoncé banned cameras at Kobe memorial. Team Bey nixed pix at the event, angering fans. Pete Davidson eyes exit at “SNL,” and says he’s “like a virgin.” And “The Bachelor” casts seniors edition.

Here’s a closer look at today’s stories:

Beyoncé bans photos of her performance during Kobe Bryant memorial

Photographers were forbidden from taking snaps of Beyoncé during her performance at Kobe Bryant’s memorial in Los Angeles on Monday, according to several photo agencies.

Editors at the Associated Press and Getty Images told The Post that organizers of the livestreamed Staples Center event prohibited them from taking photos of the Grammy-winning singer or Bryant’s children.

The pop superstar kicked off the memorial to the Lakers legend and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, by performing her hit songs “XO” and “Halo.”

One insider at the event said, “It is so offensive to Kobe’s family and the fans, Beyoncé is so controlling of her image — she usually only allows approved selected images of her to be released — so no photographers at the Kobe memorial were allowed to take her picture. Really, at a memorial? Not even the family of Michael Jackson did that.

“A Staples Center staffer was dispatched to make sure not a single camera was focused on the stage. The photographers couldn’t believe it. This doesn’t help Beyoncé’s image at all, it hurts her. It makes her look like a diva. The memorial wasn’t about her. The only shots of Bey that did emerge were screen grabs from TV. None of the other artists at the memorial asked for this, not Christina Aguilera, not Alicia Keys.”

Representatives for Beyoncé did not immediately return a request for comment.

Pete Davidson gets star treatment from Lorne Michaels, ‘SNL’ sources say

“Saturday Night Live” sources have been snarling to Page Six for months that cast member and unlikely lothario Pete Davidson has been getting unfair star treatment — and Davidson’s bashing of the show Monday presumably won’t help to soothe tensions.

Davidson got time off to shoot the “Suicide Squad” sequel in Atlanta and was also allowed to skip the show for pal Ricky Velez’s wedding. Lorne Michaels, the show’s creator, “gave him the week off to go,” said an insider, adding that that is “unheard of.”

Plus, we’re told, Davidson doesn’t play a big role in the writers’ room. “Pete has a pretty cushy gig, to say the least,” said a source. “The cast isn’t into him,” said another. “He’s just there — he doesn’t add much.”

Monday, news broke that Davidson was ready to leave the NBC show, because “I’m literally painted out to be this big dumb idiot.” He said in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, “I personally think I should be done with that show because they make fun of me. They think I’m f–king dumb … I have a weird feeling in that building where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for, really; if I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke.” His personal life does seem to have eclipsed his characters: He’s discussed his 2018 breakup with Ariana Grande and living with his mom on Staten Island in “Weekend Update” segments.

Calling all single seniors!

On a recent episode of “The Bachelor” Season 24, ABC announced that it was seeking unattached men and women over 65 years old to participate in a spinoff dating show for senior citizens.

“#BachelorNation, give us your Grumpiest Old Men, give us your Goldenest Girls. #TheBachelor,” wrote Robert Mills, ABC’s head of alternative programming, in a tweet yesterday. He adds, “To be clear, this is 65+.”

According to the show’s casting description, “The Producers of ‘The Bachelor’ are looking for active and outgoing single men and women IN THEIR GOLDEN YEARS for a new exciting dating show!”

The network hasn’t specified many eligibility requirements beyond that, other than “applicants must be legal US residents.”
