Jill Martin is launching a new digital show for NBC’s “Today” — after news chief Noah Oppenheim said he would not rule out launching a fifth hour of the brand.
“Shop the Stars” is being slated as the first shoppable celebrity talk show where viewers can buy almost everything on set, using e-commerce technology. Martin, who hosts “Today’s” “Steals and Deals,” and has her own QVC line, talks to Martha Stewart about TikToking with her grandkids on the first show, Page Six is told. In a later episode, Taraji P. Henson explains why she changed her wedding date and venue. “Shop the Stars” starts streaming on Today.com on Friday.
Martin has been testing out her interview chops while co-hosting the third hour of “Today” while Dylan Dreyer is on maternity leave.
Last month, Oppenheim told Variety: “We like serving our audience on any given day of the week. There’s enough going on to fill 24 hours of television.” But he cautioned: “There are no imminent plans for it … I don’t want to overstate the likelihood of it happening.”
