The Washington Capitals gave fan Pat Sajak something to smile about over the weekend.
On Friday, the longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host, who underwent emergency surgery last month over a blocked intestine, made his first public appearance since the procedure to watch Washington defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-3, according to a photo obtained by Capitals blog RMNB.
Joined by daughter Maggie, 73-year-old Sajak rocked a red half-zip featuring the Capitals’ logo, as well as a black baseball cap.
In early November, the game show announced that co-host Vanna White would take over as Sajak recovered. He later thanked fans on Twitter for their well-wishes.
“I’m so grateful for all the good wishes during my recent illness. Happy to say that the worst has passed, and I’ll be out of the hospital in a day of two, then back to work (unless @TheVannaWhite has completely taken over!),” Sajak tweeted Nov. 11.
Sajak has hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since 1982.
