DMX ‘fresh and energetic’ at first shows post-rehab stint

DMX is back onstage!

The iconic rapper, 49, performed in Reno and Las Vegas on Dec. 28 and 29, running his greatest hits for an enthusiastic crowd. He arrived at the Hakkasan Nightclub in Vegas around 2 a.m. on the 29th, with a small entourage that included his fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, “who he was very affectionate towards the entire night,” a source told Page Six.

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, was noticeably not seen drinking, “sipping on Fiji water” instead and smoking cigarettes. He “seemed fresh and energetic,” according to a source, “posing for photos with fans, shaking hands during the performance and even staying after his performance ended, dancing with [Lindstrom] in the DJ booth.”

X performed for even longer than he was scheduled for, telling the crowd “I could never just play a couple songs.” He made the de rigeur “what happens in Vegas” references during his set, but ended with a heartfelt speech to the audience:

“When you fall down, get back up. Everyone here has been through some s–t and you never know what God is willing to do for you, until you need him to do something for you. You never know if He’s going to pick you up unless you fall down. You will never know He is willing to help you find a way until you get lost.”

DMX, who checked himself into rehab most recently in October, also completed a stint in 2017. He has frequently addressed his struggles with addiction and substance abuse during his career.
