It was bound to happen, as it eventually does to everything the internet deems worthy. Baby Yoda popped up at the end of the first episode of The Mandalorian and immediately hit social media so people could squee at his mighty cuteness. Disney didn't have any merch out and people were willing to die for the little puppet/animatronic if need be.

Then the memes started. It was fine, really. They were mostly cute and entertaining enough. But now? Well, now it's gone too far, with people who don't understand how to meme ruining it all.

Now Baby Yoda memes are to people aged 20 - 50 what Minions are to people aged 50+. You know this to be true in the place where your heart should be.

You see, memes should be clever and make sense given the subject in the image. The person looking at them should also feel a kinship to the idea being conveyed. Like this:

What in the ever-loving sh*t is this? Does Baby Yoda talk like a housewife in her forties who doesn't get to see anyone but her kids for years at a time? I'm genuinely asking because I haven't watched The Mandalorian. Does Baby Yoda talk like that? Even if he does, WHAT IS THAT I DO NOT RELATE TO THAT WHY.

You see? Baby Yoda has become Minions, only somehow worse since it started out attached to a property not intended for little kids. Yet, we ruined it. We wouldn't leave it alone, let Aunt Barbara get her hands on it, and now we're paying the price.
