Jenna Bush Hager sent Oprah a letter, wine and flowers to get her on ‘Today’

It’s not easy to land an interview with Oprah Winfrey — even if you’re Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.
“I interviewed her [for Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour last month], and I told her, ‘You know, my New Year’s resolution was to see [you] again … but Hoda has never met you,’” Hager told Page Six during a tour of the new “Today with Hoda & Jenna” set.
“And she said, ‘Well, we’re going to make that happen too.’ I wrote her a letter [thanking] her for starting her tour with us and said, ‘There’s always a place if you ever want to come,’ and then we had a phone call, and I sent wine to her whole team for helping with this interview. I sent flowers. The wine is key to everything,” she quipped.
On Monday, Hager surprised Kotb on-air with the news that Winfrey will be joining them on Friday to celebrate their new live-audience studio. “Jenna met Oprah … and [Oprah] was like, ‘Hey, I’ll come on,’” Kotb told us, “but I thought it was that kind of a thing that people do at parties! Like, ‘Of course we’ll have lunch!’ Then lo and behold … I’m truly shocked!”
Oprah’s protégé Nate Berkus designed their new set. Alicia Keys, Michelle Obama and Cher are on the ladies’ wish list of dream guests to welcome next.
