Regina King wears Breonna Taylor shirt for Emmys 2020

Regina King is using her style to make a statement at the 2020 Emmys.

For an interview during E!’s pre-show on Sunday, King, 49, sported a hot pink Schiaparelli suit with a shirt featuring Breonna Taylor’s face on it, along with the words, “Say her name.”

She appears to have styled Phenomenal’s tribute tee ($45) backwards for the occasion; the other side of the shirt reads, “Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor,” and all profits benefit the Breonna Taylor Foundation. Other celebrities who have posed on social media in the T-shirt include Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde and Amy Schumer.

Taylor, 26, was asleep in her apartment on March 13 when police executed a no-knock warrant and barged into her apartment. The EMT was unarmed and fatally shot. Her family settled their case with Louisville officials for $12 million last week.

King is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her work in “Watchmen,” which depicts true historical events such as the Tulsa Massacre, which many fans had not heard of before watching the show.

“It’s amazing that it’s a new conversation, right?” she said of exposing viewers to tragic events. “It’s amazing the conversations that we’re having right now are still being received as new conversations, but I’m one to believe that it’s better to look at an old conversation as new and have the conversation and actually have some transformative change as a result of the conversation than to not have the conversation at all.”

During the interview, King also showed off the blue polka-dotted Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown she would have worn on Emmys night, had the show featured a traditional red carpet.
