Alien Huang, the Taiwanese actor, singer and fashion designer also known as Huang Hong-Shen, has died. He was 36.
Police confirmed that Huang’s body was discovered on Wednesday morning at his home in the Beitou district of Taipei, Variety reported. The official cause of death has not yet been announced, but Huang’s management team is expected to make a statement later today.
The former member of the boy bands HC3 and Cosmo was wearing a top but no underwear at the time of his death, and blood stains were found on the floor, according to Apple Daily Taiwan. Huang’s body was found lying in the corridor outside the bathroom, United Daily News reported. No drugs, alcohol or signs of forced entry were found.
Huang launched his acting career in the 2000s, with starring roles in the 2015 gang pic “Gatao,” for which he also wrote music, and the 2016 comedy “Go! Crazy Gangster,” Deadline reported. He most recently appeared in the 2020 rom-com “Acting Out Of Love.”
However, he was best-known for TV work in the drama series “Lovestore At The Corner,” as well as hosting gigs on the variety shows “100% Entertainment” and “Mr. Player.”
In 2008 Huang also established Alien Evolution Studio, a fashion and accessories brand that remains in business at the time of his passing.
Huang is the third Asian celebrity to die at the age of 36 in three consecutive days. Japanese actress Ashina Sei was reported to have died by suicide on Monday. Korean actress Oh In-hye initially survived a suicide attempt Monday, but later died in the hospital.
