Lizzo on double standards in body shaming: ‘We don’t talk about your d–k size!’

February 15, 2020

Lizzo is — once again — defending her right to just be herself, calling out men who have no problem body shaming women for their physical imperfections while never being called to the carpet for theirs.

During an interview with Brazil’s TV Folha, the “Truth Hurts” songstress brushed off questions about not being “conventionally beautiful,” and instead addressed what she believes to be the root of the problem: double standards.

“I think that women are always going to be criticized for existing in their bodies,” Lizzo told the interviewer, “and I don’t think I’m any different than any of the other great women who’ve come before me that had to literally be politicized just to be sexual…you know what I mean? [Just to] exist.”

She continued, “Things that were beautiful on them were called flaws, and they persisted against that, fought against that, and now I’m able to do what I do because of those great women. And they all look completely different, they don’t all look the same, and they all had to deal with the same kind of marginalization and misogyny.

“So, what does that tell you about the oppressor? What does that tell you about men? Get it together, we don’t talk about your d—k sizes, do we? Like, ‘that’s not a conventional d—k size, it’s too small.’ We still let ya’ll asses run all over the goddamn place.”

While spending some down time in the South American country, the Grammy-winner rocked a tiny red bikini while laughing and drinking with her girlfriends beachside.
