Tennis phenom Coco Gauff inspires fellow teens at Bahamas cup

November 14, 2019

Coco Gauff — the teen tennis phenom who defeated Venus Williams at Wimbledon this year — shared her tips with aspiring young athletes in the Bahamas over the weekend.

Gauff, 15, said during a youth meet-up, “My dad always told me I can change the world with my racket.”

Also participating in the Baha Mar Cup, which raised $100,000 for Hurricane Dorian relief, were tennis greats Mark Knowles, Andy Roddick, Tommy Haas and James Blake.

This week, Gauff attended the People’s Choice Awards and was named on Time’s 100 Next list. Billie Jean King wrote in Gauff’s Time salute: “Because she has proved she is exceptional at tennis, she now has a platform to inspire all of us, especially young people.”
