We have a winner, folks.

Or, to be more specific and to get everyone even more curious and excited, perhaps we should phrase this a little differently:

We have an HISTORIC winner, folks!

On Monday night, to conclude a glittery and star-studded finale of the ABC reality dancing competition series, The Bachelorette‘s Hannah Brown and her professional dancer partner Alan Bersten were announced as the Season 28 champions.

This marked the only the second time a contestant from The Bachelor franchise had taken off the Mirrorball Trophy, following Melissa Rycroft's Season 8 victory.

And the first time one of the actual leads has accomplished the feat.

The suspenseful live episode -- which featued performances by Cher, Pitbull and Ne-Yo -- depicted Brown going up against fellow finalists Ally Brooke, Lauren Alaina and Kel Mitchell.

Before the winner was declared, each pair performed two dances, with emotion running higher than ever.

“I’m having breakdowns and breakthroughs for everybody to see,” the beloved ex-Bachelorette said at the beginning of the night.

Following her opening number, Erin Andrews revealed that Alan was even in tears prior the show.

“This has been the most exceptional experience that I’ve ever experienced,” he told Hannah. “I’m so honored that you could take me on this journey.”

There have been rumors, of course, that Bersten and Brown are a couple.

But we'll save that chatter for another time, focusing here instead on the finale performances.

Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber seemed nearly impossible to defeat at first, earning perfect scores for their Jive and Freestyle.

Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko also impressed, just not on as grand a scale, garnering a total of 57 points of out 60 for their Foxtrot and Freestyle.

Hannah and Alan were right being with 28 on their Viennese Waltz and a perfect 30 not heir Freestyle choice.

And then Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson put up a combined 59 for their Jazz tour tine and Freestyle to the classic track "Jump."

With mere minutes remaining in the season 28 finale, co-hosts Tom Bergeron Erin Andrews announced that Alaina had taken fourth place and Brooke had secured the third position.

The tension at an all-time high, Brown then heard her name called as the champion.

“Whoo!” Brown said in response. “Thank you, everyone!”

“This has been the most exceptional experience," Bersten added. “I’m so honored I could take you on this journey.”

As a flood of silver confetti covered the winners, Brown hugged Bersten and lifted the Mirrorball Trophy high in celebration.

We also learned that all four final contestants, in addition to season favorites, Kate Flannery and Sailor Brinkley-Cook, will join the upcoming Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020.
