Dr. Luke accuses celebrity lawyer of lying amid court battle with Kesha

November 19, 2019

Music producer Dr. Luke has asked a judge to sanction his former lawyer, Mark Geragos, for allegedly lying amid the embattled hit-maker’s court fight with Kesha, according to new court papers.

Lawyers for Lukasz Gottwald — who is known professionally as Dr. Luke — claim that Geragos falsely said in a 2017 deposition that he wasn’t able to turn over a slew of documents because they had been deleted, according to new documents filed in Manhattan Supreme court Tuesday.

But recently, Geragos turned over those very documents in a separate defamation case that Gottwald brought against Geragos for claiming Gottwald raped Lady Gaga, the new court papers allege.

“Years after this deposition, the Geragos Parties have now produced dozens of these purportedly deleted and nonexistent documents to Plaintiffs in a separate litigation.

“This establishes the Geragos Parties’ violations of the Court’s Orders, as well as Geragos’s perjury to conceal them,” the court papers say.

Gottwald’s lawyers are asking a New York judge to sanction Geragos, refer him to the California bar for a disciplinary hearing, order him to pay the attorney’s fees incurred by bringing the new motion and force him to turn over all records to a forensic expert to determine what is relevant for the case, the court documents say.

Kesha — whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert — filed suit against Gottwald in 2014 claiming that in his ten years as her producer he sexually, physically and verbally abused her.

Then, Gottwald counter-sued Kesha for defamation saying she made up the claims to try to get out of her contract with him. Both suits are still pending.

A spokesperson from Geragos’ law firm said the new allegations against Geragos “are completely without merit.”

“It appears that Luke is increasingly desperate after his last multi-million dollar litigation loss in the Katy Perry case. Frankly, he’s a sad and desperate man who needs a new hobby,” the rep said.
