Jussie Smollett may still be on the hook for allegedly staging and reporting a hate crime.
Abel and Ola Osundairo — two Nigerian brothers originally suspected in the attack — were seen visiting with Chicago special prosecutor Dan Webb this week, TMZ reported.
Though he once faced 16 felony counts in connection to the alleged crime, the charges were dropped by State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. At the time, then Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted the move, calling it a “whitewash of justice.”
As special prosecutor, Webb would have the power to reinstate the charges.
The controversy derailed Smollett’s acting career. In August he was officially dropped from his role on the hit Fox show “Empire.”
