Jonathan Cheban’s attempt to go only by ‘Foodgod’ meets with mixed results
Jonathan Cheban’s decision to abandon his birth name and go legally by Foodgod is proving to be a challenge.
At Denise Rich’s Angel Ball, a tipsy woman tried to pronounce the new moniker, which he helpfully wears around his neck on a gold chain. “What’s that? Food good? Food is good,” she said, misreading the metal script. An irritated Foodgod responded, “It says Foodgod!”
Kim Kardashian’s longtime BFF announced this week that he’s changed his name to the same handle of his foodie Instagram account. “I need advice from Cher,” he told us, adding that two people can still refer to him by his given name. “Mom and Kim. They’re grandfathered in.”
At the gala, Patti LaBelle performed an emotional version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” in memory of the philanthropist’s teenage grandson, Kai Schachter, who recently died.
Also at the event, which honored Marc Leder and Amy and Brian France and raised more than $3 million for cancer research, was Equinox guru Harvey Spevak.
