The famed Super Saturday shopping extravaganza has been overhauled once again, we’ve learned.
Last year, Page Six reported that the event had been moved from the Hamptons to the city after a 21-year run in Watermill, and it was shifted from the summer to the fall.
Now we’ve learned that the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance fund-raiser is being moved once again, this time to Gotham Hall, and it’s being rebranded as Style Lab. Insiders say it’s going to be a vastly smaller event, dropping from around 150 vendors to about 15, and that it’s going to be much more “personalized” and for fewer shoppers. The insiders say that the old model of selling designer brands at discount prices has been blown out of the water by secondhand sites like the RealReal and luxury discount companies like Gilt.
The biggest news is that they’ll run a Shop My Closet section, where celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Trevor Noah, Ben Affleck and Julia Roberts have donated items from their own wardrobes for attendees to buy. It’s on Nov. 6.
