Sam Smith is ready to talk about their hair.
The “Not the Only One” singer, 28, revealed in a Vogue video that they had a hair transplant two years ago to correct some thinning issues.
“My hair is actually — it’s been a touchy place for me,” Smith said. “I haven’t actually spoken about this before. So I am going to speak about it because I don’t actually feel like I have anything to hide.”
Revealing that they started to notice some thinning along the hairline, Smith said they looked into the procedure.
“So my hairdresser Paul basically said it would be a good idea for me to get a transplant and I had to look into it. I looked into it and I went to Ireland and I have had a hair transplant,” Smith said. “How stunning is it? It’s nice to have hair. But also if I was bald, I would still own it too, because bald is beautiful.”
To style their buzzcut, Smith used Shu Uemura Umou Hold Hair Cream ($41).
Smith’s entire routine consists of skincare products from SkinCeuticals, MAC Brow Set ($19), tinted moisturizer, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara ($26) and lip gloss from Lady Gaga’s Haus Labs ($18); they credit the pop star for helping them come to terms with their gender-fluid identity early in their adolescence.
“It’s like we’re all flowers, right,” the pop star said of their philosophy on skincare and self-love. “And we’re all watering ourselves and keeping ourselves fresh so we can grow tall and strong.”
