Chrishell Stause was once considered to be ‘The Bachelorette’

Once upon a time, there was a chance Chrishell Stause could have called the “Bachelor” mansion home.

During an appearance Tuesday on Nick Viall’s “The Viall Files” podcast, ABC executive Robert Mills revealed the “Selling Sunset” star, 39, was once considered to be “The Bachelorette.”

“She would never remember this, but I had lunch with Chrishell — this was about 10 or 11 years ago — to talk about being ‘The Bachelorette,'” Mills told “Bachelor” alum Viall, 40.

“We didn’t know who it was going to be, so we were looking for people and our casting director said, ‘Oh, you should meet with this girl Chrishell Stause, she’s amazing.’ And we had this incredible lunch, I think it was at the Beverly Hills Hotel and just, she was awesome,” he continued. “I was convinced, I’m like, ‘This is ‘The Bachelorette.'”

Fate, however, had other plans in store. Around the same time Stause was considered for the part, Season 11 “Bachelor” Brad Womack had parted ways with his final two contenders, Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas, who found a fan in Ellen DeGeneres

“I remember Ellen DeGeneres actually calling the president of ABC at the time, saying, ‘This woman needs to be “The Bachelorette.”‘ This was before we even said we were going to do a ‘Bachelorette.’ At that point, it was like, how do we not do that?” Mills said.

Pappas, now 38, appeared on Womack’s season of “The Bachelor” in 2007 and became the fourth-ever “Bachelorette” a year later. Prior to her casting, “The Bachelorette” had only aired in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Pappas is currently married to Stephen Stagliano and they have two children.

As for Stause, she married “This Is Us” actor Justin Hartley, 43, in 2017. He filed for divorce last fall.
