Jenny Slate working on ‘90s-comedy-inspired script where she plays twins

Jenny Slate revealed that she’s been working on a “big” new movie idea during Hollywood’s recent hiatus — inspired by ’90s comedies.

“I have found myself really wanting to see a ’90s-style comedy — a full-fledged character comedy — that is nice,” the “Obvious Child” star said during the virtual chat with Kristen Stewart, part of Tribeca Enterprises’ Women’s Filmmaker Program.

“Usually at the head of these movies are always men, so I have just completed a draft, with my friend, of a mainstream, big, big movie comedy … where I play twins.”

Slate starred in this summer’s “The Sunlit Night” with Zach Galifianakis, and will front Quibi docuseries “Sex Plants.” Off-screen, she got engaged to writer and art curator Ben Shattuck last year.
