April Bloomfield is returning to her roots in the countryside.
The acclaimed British chef is now chef-in-residence at the historical Mayflower Inn & Spa in Connecticut through this year’s holiday season.
Bloomfield, who put places like the Spotted Pig, The Breslin, Tosca, and The John Dory on the map with her celebrated culinary creations, said: “I have been drawn to the country ever since I was little, and I find the beautiful and elegant grounds at The Mayflower Inn & Spa so inspiring. I’m excited to be working alongside the team to create delicious menus inspired by our local farms and the wonderful products they offer.”
Bloomfield, who severed all ties with her former partners Ken Friedman and Mario Batali after the Spotted Pig’s “rape room” allegations surfaced, is no stranger to the rural life – the chef now lives in upstate New York with her wife Amy Hou and also owns Coombeshead Farm, a 66-acre farm with a five-bedroom guesthouse.
“I’m settling into the Connecticut countryside, spending my days cooking and exploring the area,” Bloomfield told the Post. “The property is gorgeous and quiet. I’m looking forward to the fall, to meeting more of the locals and building relationships with nearby farmers. The Mayflower does remind me a bit of England, which has been nice.”
