Alec Baldwin dinged for promoting Woody Allen interview

June 02, 2020

Alec Baldwin faced a backlash after promoting his new interview with Woody Allen on his Instagram feed during so-called Blackout Tuesday — a social-media movement in which users posted only images of black squares all day to show allegiance with those protesting police violence against black Americans.

But Baldwin fired back, belittling the posts. “I had no idea about this … national day of whatever,” he replied to a critic. “The professional lives of some people cannot be put on hold at the whims of political correctness.”

Baldwin, who has acted in three of Allen’s movies, also said, “I believe Allen is innocent and that is my right.”
