I said that last week, after our abusive President was humiliated by the lack of crowds in Tulsa, that he would find a way to take it out on the country. Well, here it is: Solicitor General Noel Francisco submitted a brief saying that, since the individual mandate requirement has been struck down, "it necessarily follows that the rest of the [Affordable Care Act] must also fall."
Nancy Pelosi puts it succinctly and with less profanities than I would: "President Trump and the Republicans' campaign to rip away the protections and benefits of the Affordable Care Act in the middle of the coronavirus crisis is an act of unfathomable cruelty."
Forty-thousand new Coronavirus cases were reported yesterday, and the President thinks now would be a good time to rip away healthcare from 20 million people. It would also end provisions such as extending parents' coverage to children up to the age of 26, and as well as the provision prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. That means health insurers may be able to deny coverage to the the potentially tens to hundreds of thousands of people who survive Covid-19 but have long-lasting deleterious health effects from it.
The case is being brought by 20 states, spearheaded by Texas, which had over 5,000 new Coronavirus cases yesterday where hospitals are quickly becoming overburdened in cities like Houston.
Make no mistake about it: the Trump Administration just asked the Supreme Court to gut all of the Affordable Care Act, and its insurance&protections for those with preexisting conditions. They absolutely didn't have to file such an absurd brief. They want to take it away from you

In the middle of a pandemic, Trump just asked the Supreme Court to take away health insurance from 20 million Americans and eliminate protections for people with pre-existing conditions, like Covid. https://t.co/jSoGhRl33X

Wow. Let's hang this around every GOP incumbent's neck. All day long. https://t.co/doJIy0Kvg5

20M more Americans have health insurance because of the Affordable Care Act.
— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) June 25, 2020
135M people with pre-existing conditions are now protected.
12M seniors now pay lower prescription drug costs.
Yet Trump continued today to advance his lawsuit to repeal the ACA. During a pandemic.
The cruelty is the point.
