Billie Eilish unfollows everyone on Instagram amid ‘abuser’ claims

June 25, 2020

Billie Eilish can’t be seeing much on her Instagram feed these days.

The Grammy-winning star, who boasts nearly 65 million followers on the social-media platform, appears to have unfollowed every account she previously kept her eye on. As of Thursday morning, she has a follower count of “0.”

It’s unclear why the 18-year-old singer took this step — but fans have pointed to an item that Eilish allegedly posted to her Instagram Story, which said “If I am following your abuser DM ME & I will unfollow them,” E! reports.

Eilish hasn’t been stranger to recent social commentary. In May, she took to Instagram to slam “All Lives Matter” supporters following the death of George Floyd in police custoday.

“If all lives matter why are black people killed for just being black,” wrote Eilish, who recently obtained a three-year restraining order against a trespasser.

In March, at the outset of the coronavirus-related lockdowns in the US, she also shared her thoughts with her Instagram followers about the pandemic — including that social distancing is a responsibility and that people shouldn’t hoard supplies.

“It is a really big deal right now, and it is not a joke,” she said. “I know because a lot of us haven’t seen it with our eyes — what it’s been doing and who it’s been affecting — it’s hard to understand that it’s real. But it really is real, and I’ve seen a lot of young people out in the world, all over the place, going to the club or going to the beach, just going out and hanging out. It’s really irresponsible.”

Last month, Eilish’s team announced that the remainder of dates for her 2020 world tour had been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

“As soon as dates are finalized, Billie will share the updated schedule and all tickets will be honored accordingly,” according to her Twitter — a platform on which Eilish also isn’t following anyone. “Thank you for understanding. Stay safe, and stay home.”
