The impeachment news cycle has finally slowed down a bit. I mean, just look at yesterday: All that happened was that we found that Donald Trump was also using the power of his Presidency to pressure Australia's Prime Minister to find information that might help him personally; William Barr personally asked British and Italian intelligence officials to try and discredit the Mueller report; and Giuliani's Ukraine records were subpoenaed. In 1974, that's three months of news. In 2019, that's a slow-news Monday.

There has been no big breaking news today yet (it's only 9:30 a.m.), but I think below is another attempt by Trump to scare away Democrats by threatening some kind of Civil War by pitting large landmasses against densely populated centers.

Cool, cool. Because what I see is a map where Donald Trump lost by 3 million votes. Also, where is St. Louis on that map? Is it red, too? Because The St. Louis Dispatch -- a Midwestern newspaper -- just called upon the Republicans to dump Trump.

Meanwhile, several more polls have surfaced, each showing growing support for impeaching the President (despite the fact that 60 percent of Americans still believe that "impeach" means "remove from office.") According to Reuters, support has risen 8 percent in the last week; a CNN poll shows 47 percent support; and a CBS polls shows 55 percent support for the impeachment inquiry. This one is from Quinnapac. It shows a 20 point swing:

Again, polls do matter here, because Senate Republicans will base their decisions on those polls. Also, the more people that turn against Trump, the more insane the man gets, which creates an insanity-spiral, which leads to more Americans turning in Trump.

Finally (for now), the Democrats are weighing now releasing another whistleblower complaint from another federal official alleging that Trump used "inappropriate efforts to influence" the IRS in its audit of his taxes.
