Jane Fonda accepted a prestigious film award while in zip tie handcuffs — as she was arrested during a climate change protest in Washington DC.

“BAFTA, thank you!” Fonda, 81, said as cops hauled her off, video posted to Twitter by BAFTA Los Angeles shows. “I’m very honored.”

The video was played at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ annual awards ceremony inside the Beverly Hilton on Friday night, to which the audience erupted in applause, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“I’m sorry I’m not there, but as you may have heard, I’m getting arrested,” Fonda, 81, said in a segment recorded from her home following her arrest. “I decided I needed to do more about climate change, so I moved to D.C. for four months and tried to heighten the sense of urgency that there needs to be. It’s a crisis, not just here but all over the world.”

The organization honored The “Frankie and Grace” star with the Stanley Kubrick award for excellence in film, given to “legendary individuals whose work is stamped with the indelible mark of authorship and ingenuity.”

The Oscar-winner declared earlier this week she planned to be arrested in hopes of inspiring older activists.
