Students of prestigious Bronx prep school Horace Mann are continuing to push the Alumni Council to remove Attorney General Bill Barr from its distinguished-alumni list following reports that law enforcement followed his orders to clear protesters in DC for a Donald Trump photo op.
An open letter was sent to the board on Wednesday from Class of 2020 students Jessica Rosberger and Kiara Royer, who began a petition that has gained over 8,500 supporters. “We have respectfully attempted to communicate with the Alumni Council . . . and provided updates of our petition status,” the letter states. “We have asked to speak to the Council on behalf of our signatories and requested a timeline for their deliberations and a rationale behind their decisions . . . This issue is not one we as a school can ignore.”
On June 6, the school said it would “canvass the views of our alumni constituencies,” and review “the range of perspectives.” Barr has also come under fire from faculty at George Washington University law school.
