“Today” host Savannah Guthrie will host a virtual joint birthday bash for Bob Dole’s 97th and Elizabeth Dole’s 84th, we’re told.
Guthrie is an ambassador for Hidden Heroes, a branch of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation that supports caregivers of military veterans. Guthrie is also very close to the couple and former senators.
The virtual bash is expected to have a VIP guests including Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Nancy Pelosi, along with Barbra Streisand — who we hear cracked some jokes in a taped message, including, “I must be the most unlikely guest at your virtual birthday party.”
The liberal singer also shared on a serious note with Bob: “You were so sweet to tell me that my music helped you during a recent recovery. I was so pleased that I could help you in any way as you have helped many people get through hard times.”
We hear that a mixologist will make a signature cocktail called National Treasures, and the public is even invited to “attend” at 5:30 Thursday via DoleBirthdayCelebration.org.
