Avengers: Endgame directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo have found their next project. Having directed several Marvel movies, they're moving on to executive produce a docuseries about the decades-long rivalry between Marvel and DC, which is... weird. The docuseries, called Slugfest, will follow the "rise of two groundbreaking creative companies who went on to become the comics-publishing powerhouses, Marvel and DC." It'll be directed by Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce for Quibi.

Per EW, the docuseries, which is based on the book Slugfest: Inside the Epic, 50-year Battle between Marvel and DC, is set to chronicle the history of both companies. Now, I don't know about you, but when it comes to the whole Marvel vs. DC battle (which is forever exhausting and nonsensical), it would've been best to, I don't know, bring in unbiased producers.

It's odd that the two people who have worked so long on Marvel films and are probably coming in with rose-colored glasses will be working on this series. Makes me wonder if anyone who worked with DC and Warner Bros. for a long time will also be executive producing. Otherwise, it's admittedly an unfair advantage.

Fans have long debated about which comic book company is better without even considering that both Marvel and DC Comics have borrowed from each other. They even had their own crossover comic with Superman and Spider-Man. So, the debate itself has very shaky legs. Still, Anthony and Joe Russo do have a history of producing stories they have no business working on (like the Arabic-language movie Mosul), so this is right up their alley.

There's no word yet on when Slugfest will premiere on Quibi, but the short-form video platform is set to launch on April 6, 2020.
