Black gloves, red blood and a bonkers final reveal.

They’re not for everyone, but many horror fans have a particular fondness for the Italian murder-mystery Giallo films of the ’70s and ’80s, which often provided the one thing hardcore fans tend to love above all else: extreme gore sequences. And this throwback tribute, true to classic Giallo, indeed does have a black-gloved killer who spills copious amounts of blood.

Written and directed by Eric Yoder, The Old Man in the Rocking Chair (spotted over on Reddit) faithfully taps into that Giallo aesthetic, mimicking everything from the shot composition to the music most synonymous with the genre. And yes, there are two gory, practical effects-heavy kills in the film, which impressively scratch that Giallo itch.
