Set to hold its World Premiere next month at the SXSW Film Festival, Roxanne Benjamin will see her feature directorial debut Body at Brighton Rock open in limited theaters and on VOD platforms April 26th through Magnet Releasing.
Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the official poster for the survival thriller that centers on a novice park ranger who must spend the night guarding a potential crime scene on a remote mountain trail. Based on a true story, it stars Karina Fontes, who previously worked with Benjamin on Southbound, as the ranger.
“Wendy, a part-time summer employee at a mountainous state park, takes on a rough trail assignment at the end of the season, trying to prove to her friends that she’s capable enough to do the job. When she takes a wrong turn and ends up deep in the backcountry, she stumbles upon what might be a potential crime scene. Stuck with no communication after losing her radio and with orders to guard the site, Wendy must fight the urge to run and do the harder job of staying put — spending the night deep in the wilderness, facing down her worst fears and proving to everyone – including herself – that she’s made of stronger stuff than they think she is.”
The supporting cast includes Casey Adams (Blindspotting), Emily Althaus (“Orange is the New Black”), John Getz (Zodiac), Matt Peters (“Orange is the New Black”), Miranda Bailey(Diary of a Teenage Girl), and Susan Burke (Southbound).
Benjamin, who first wrote for Bloody Disgusting before producing both V/H/S and V/H/S/2 with us, she went on to direct a segment the “Siren” segment and produce our Southbound and also contributed to the all-female anthology XX alongside St Vincent.
Benjamin wrote and directed the film from Soapbox Films and Protostar Pictures. It was produced by Christopher Alender, Benjamin, and David A. Smith. Co-producer is Chris Harding.
