Psychological Horror Game ‘Lust From Beyond’ Channels Lovecraft, H.R. Giger, and Eroticism

February 27, 2019

Last year, developer Movie Games Lunarium made an erotic psychological horror game called Lust For Darkness that was inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and the paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński. It received a generally decent reception, but the developers clearly wanted to improve upon the concept and are set to return with sequel Lust From Beyond.

Lust From Beyond adds an element of H.R. Giger to the Lovecraft Erotica of the previous game, and from the look of the first trailer and screens, it won’t be quite so heavy-handed with the influence as last year’s dismal Agony.

In the description for the game, MGL says ”A Victorian mansion. A cult worshipping an otherworldly erotic deity. Among all that – you. Explore a world inspired with the works of Lovecraft, Giger, and Beksiński. See for yourself that there are no limits to the dark ecstasy.

Victor Holloway, an antiquarian, is tormented by visions of a sinister land full of lechery and pain. To learn its secrets, he joins the Cult of Ecstasy, whose members seem to know the answers to his disturbing questions.
Victor learns the cult’s life from within, getting lost in its blasphemous and sexual customs. Pleasures of this world are soon not enough. The cultists, following Victor’s visions, attempt to enter Lusst’ghaa – the Land of Ecstasy beyond the borders of our reality.”

The trailer is below, and it probably goes without saying that this might not be a suitable thing to watch in your workspace.

There’s no set release date for the game yet, but it is currently listed on Steam as ‘Coming Soon’. In the meantime, you can peruse these screenshots.

It’s certainly good to see a bit more variety in horror games, and it’s fair to say there’s not exactly a wealth of erotic horror titles to play. Hopefully, we’ll soon see if Movie Games Lunarium can produce the goods and give us a great mature horror game.
