‘Resident Evil 2’ Has Shipped 4 Million Units Worldwide In its First Month

February 27, 2019

Yesterday, it was revealed that the Resident Evil series had sold in excess of 90 million units worldwide since its inception in 1996. Then, we noted it was likely that last month’s Resident Evil 2 remake had contributed a fair bit to that total as it had only previously been revealed that it had shipped over 3 million copies.

Well, Capcom has since revealed that 2019’s Resident Evil 2 has now shipped more than 4 million units worldwide since its release at the end of last month.

While that’s shipped, not sold, it does mean it’s probably surpassed the sales of Resident Evil 3 and Code: Veronica, and just over half of the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7‘s lifetime sales (about 6 million each).

It’s not hard to imagine that figure will be going up steadily throughout the year, and Capcom will no doubt do a nifty repackage next year.

It’s thoroughly deserved of course, because Resident Evil 2 is great. You can read up on whose campaign we thought was the best, personally, I preferred Claire.

Resident Evil 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
