Seattle is Getting an ‘Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn’ Escape Room!

February 13, 2019

It’s your chance to escape the evil dead before they swallow your soul in the first officially licensed Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn escape room, granted by Studiocanal S.A.S., based on Sam Raimi’s horror classic.

When players enter that all-too-familiar cabin in the woods, they will have until dawn (or sixty minutes, whichever comes first) to find the Kandarian dagger and destroy the book of the dead before the evil dead swallows their souls. Fans of the classic film can expect deadites, chainsaws, a very strange deer head, a chained-up cellar door, and plenty of horrifying surprises, including a cameo by “Twin Peaks” star Andrea Hays!

“Every part of the design phase we stop and ask if this fits into the Evil Dead 2 universe,” said creative director Seth Wolfson. “We want this to be a great Evil Dead 2 experience and a well-respected escape room on its own merit.”

Hourglass Escapes, LLC creates challenging and fun escape rooms known for superior production values and immersive storylines. Their games (including Rise of the Mad Pharaoh and The Ghostly Galleon) are top-rated on Yelp and Tripadvisor, with Rise named as one of the top three escape rooms in Seattle by EscapeRoomsTips.com!

Before co-founding Hourglass Escapes, creative Director Seth Wolfson was a scenic animatronic artist at Universal Studios Orlando and sculpted/designed wax figures for Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. Now he and his impassioned team of film and game veterans will unleash their creativity on the cult classic that the Chicago Tribune called “the kind of shock that lies between a laugh and a scream.”

Wolfson is joined by set and prop designer Regan MacStravic (Captain Fantastic, Safety Not Guaranteed), makeup FX artist Tim Peirson (Z Nation), video designer Ben Rock (production designer and creator of the infamous stickman for The Blair Witch Project), and veteran escape room composer David Chesnut.

The original Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn escape room opens in July 2019 and will be a scary and fun experience appropriate for ages 13 and up. For design photos and production updates, click here.
