Phil Lord and Chris Miller Directing Sci-fi Film ‘The Last Human,’ Described as a “Reverse E.T.”
February 11, 2019
Powerhouse duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of The Lego Movie and producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, have been tapped to direct an adaptation of Lee Bacon’s middle-grade sci-fi novel The Last Human, which actually hasn’t even been published yet. It’s coming in October 2019, with Sony/TriStar developing the film now.
According to The Wrap, “the film is described as a reverse E.T. and tells the story of an artificial intelligence society where three robots discover a human child.”
Netflix, Warner Bros. and Universal had also been bidding on the project.
Henry Gayden (Shazam!) will be adapting Bacon’s novel.
